I promised I had more fun book things to share with you in yesterday’s post – and today I’m really thrilled to be able to share the cover of Celeste Connally’s upcoming novel, Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Lord.

About the book…

The first in a new Regency-era mystery series, Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Lord follows Lady Petra Forsyth, who when her fiancé – and love of her life – dies just before their wedding, she declares that she will not ever marry. For Lady Forsyth has her own wealth – she is the daughter of the Fifth Earl of Holbrook, after all – and wants to keep her independence as much as she can. And being a Lady, of course, she can move between the highest of society spaces without any expectation upon her marital status.

Lady Forsyth is enjoying said freedom when gossip reaches her ears that a friend of hers has passed away from “melancholia”. The circumstances are suspicious and the physician questionable, leading Petra to discover a private asylum where wives and daughters are imprisoned through the arrangement and payment of the men in their lives.

But in trying to find out if her friend is actually a prisoner, rather than deceased, Petra manages to put herself in danger too…

Isn’t this gorgeous? It gives me the most perfect Regency read vibes. Author Celeste Connally said that she was inspired in lockdown by watching her favourite period dramas, and the combination of Jane Austen heroines and Lady Edith Crawley in Downton Abbey brought her to create her new heroine, Lady Petra Forsyth.

Any book that explores the independence of women during this history always fascinates me, so I’m really pleased and thankful to be hosting the book cover reveal today, and look forward to sharing my review later in the year!
