Adapting Jane Austen | A shirt for sale

, ,

Good morning! I couldn’t resist sharing this news story with you: the shirt worn by Colin Firth in the 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is up for auction today! As part of an auction for charity, it goes up with 68 other lots from iconic period dramas, from Poldark to Ever After.

  1. Sometimes actions (and what actions he takes!) speak louder than words when indicating what a character’s state of mind is. Good point, and well made in your IG clip!

    1. Thank you! I know it’s seen as really titillating – and it is – but it’s kind of fascinating when thinking about his character development on screen!

  2. Not just wet… Pond weed , mud, various aquatic mini-beasts,. No apologies,

Darcy’s wet shirt left me cold, and thinking of the laundry bill too.

( Even Miss Tilney’s fiance had to pay )

No wet shirts for the swimming party in A Room With A View.

    1. It certainly would not have been a nice laundry bill for the shirt!
