A Guide to Jane Austen’s England for BBC History Revealed

Hello everyone, happy September! September always feels like a nice new beginning for the year even though it has been many years since I’ve actually been going back to school or university, so I relish this month every year. It’s been a busy summer travelling and working, and I’m excited for some interesting stories and places that I want to share on my blog over the coming weeks – I know posts have been a little sparse this year, so you can look forward to many more from now onwards!

I wanted to share some really exciting news about a project I’ve worked on recently. If you pick up a copy of BBC History Revealed this month, you may notice a familiar face…

I’m thrilled to be this month’s expert, consulting and contributing for their Essential Guide to Jane Austen’s England!

You can find articles about Jane Austen’s life and times, the accuracy of her novels’ portrayals of the age they are set in, slavery and abolition, social unrest, war and revolution and other key writers of the time. You’ll also see me sharing my opinion on Austen’s legacy.

I’m so thrilled to have been part of this and want to thank the team at History Revealed, as well as thank you readers for your support in my ramblings about Jane Austen, the history of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, and the lives of women in history!

I hope you enjoy it too if you want to pick up a copy – as far as I’m aware, it is on newsstands in the UK, and available for mail order outside.
